CONTEST BRIEF

MINDS ON-CAMPUS: DESIGN THE GRAPHIC IDENTITY THAT WILL RAISE YOUNG TOP TALENTS

Campus Mentis is an Italian project promoted by the Italian Ministry of Youth Development and founded with the goal of developing the cooperation between institutions, companies and talented young people. Campus Mentis is aimed at creating real career opportunities into high-skilled labor market, by concretely forming the ruling class of the near future.
For this purpose the first professional network was born: a strategic project which will be spread, shared and replicated on the Italian territory. www.campusmentis.it

How does Campus Mentis want to achieve its goal?

  1. Through the organization and management of separate campus, designed as meeting places where to carry out training activities, interviews with companies, sports activities as well as participation to debates and other events.
There will be 3 campus for 1,500 graduate students, one in the Northern, one in the Middle and one in Southern Italy. At the end of the professional training, 16 young talented worthy people will be selected and rewarded
  2. By creating a central hub, meant to provide tools, services and resources needed to implement the activities of each single campus.
This central hub will manage the national campaign of information & communication of the project, as well as the selection and recruitment of the 1500 graduates who will get into Campus Mentis project.

CAMPUS MENTIS is now asking you, young talent, to create the graphic identity for the communication of the project.

How to graphically represent this strategic project that wants to actively involve institutions, companies and talented young people?
How to graphically tell this concrete innovation aimed at training young talents to professionalism? An innovation that creates high value in the job market.
How to graphically communicate to companies and institutions the concept that, thanks to Campus Mentis, young people will be selected and trained to be highly skilled and therefore able to create real value in business world?

Design your graphic answer, the graphic identity, the moodboard of Campus Mentis project.

What to submit?
Build the BRAND IDENTITY of Campus Mentis, showing its corporate image through:

  • Below the line material: letterhead, envelopes, business cards, A4 folders.
  • Web Products: website homepage, newsletter, social marketing tools (custom pages on Facebook and Twitter).

In add, you can fit the graphic identity that you have designed also to merchandising materials such as t-shirts or gadgets.

PRIZES AND VISIBILITY

1° prize: €4,000
2° prize: €1,000

Campus Mentis will select 2 proposals.
The graphic identity that will win the first prize will be used for the marketing campaign, on below the line materials and online products.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

There is a limit to the number of proposals that I can submit?
No limits, you are free to upload all the proposals you want on Shicon.com. The important thing is that they have to be complete (below the line materials + web products above mentioned) and fulfill the brief.

How to submit:

  • One thumbnail that has to be the best representation of your design/idea together with a short description of the concept.
  • One large image that shows all the below the line materials: letterhead, envelope, business card, A4 folder.
Please refer to the download kit for the example layout.
The image must measure 650x500 pixels (width x height) and must be jpg (RGB, no CMYK), gif or png. The picture has to be displayed horizontally.
  • One large image that shows the sreenshots of all the web products: website homepage, newsletter format, custom pages on Facebook and Twitter.
The image must measure 650x500 pixels (width x height) and must be jpg (RGB, no CMYK), gif or png. The picture has to be displayed horizontally.

Each large image must be submitted with the same title, thumbnail and concept description, because they are the two parts of the same proposal (if you are planning to add some merchandising example, just submit a third large image).
The layout provided in the download kit is only an example of how you could display the requested materials. Feel free to arrange them in whatever way you like in the space provided (650x500 pixels).

Am I forced to use the current logo of Campus Mentis in the development of the graphic identity?
How would you prefer. You are free to use it, adapt it, change it or to create a completely new one. Campus Mentis is open to any idea and it will assess the overall proposal, selecting the one that best represents its communication goals.

Campus Mentis is a project that will be developed on the Italian territory. Is the contest open to people coming from other countries?
YES, the contest is open to graphic designers from all over the world. Campus Mentis project wants to bond talent to skilled labor market: it is important to have international graphical interpretations. Freely express your nature and the creative mood of your land.

How is Campus Mentis going to select the winners and what use will be made of the winning graphic identities?
During the days following the end of the competition Campus Mentis will make their review and decision.
The two selected graphic identities will become exclusive property of Campus Mentis. The graphic identity that will win the first prize will be used for the marketing campaign, on below the line materials and online products.
