What's the Expo?

Expo (short for "exposition"), are names given to various large public exhibitions held in different parts of the world.
The first Expo was held in the Crystal Palace of London in 1851 under the title "Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations". It was such a great success that from then on all Countries compete for the most outstanding or memorable structure to hold the next exposition.
The last Expo was held in Shanghai in 2010 with 73 million visitors and 22,900 events around the theme "Better city, Better life". Each Expo, infact, has a unique and universal concept around which the whole exhibition is revolving: from the logo to any single event this theme helps to promote and guarantee an inclusive experience for exhibitors and visitors.

What's the theme of the Expo 2015 held in Milan?

The concept of the Expo 2015 is sustainable development on the line of "Feeding the planet, Energy for life".

Expo 2015 will be displaying heritage, creativity and innovation in the business of food, developing the idea that everyone on the planet should have access to food that is healthy, safe and sufficient.

The logo must be focused on the "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life" idea and inspiration!
The logo must be capable of communicating a clear and captivating message to everyone regarding the important subject of nutrition and the rights of everyone to enjoy a safe and healthy diet and sufficient resources for people.
Taste, innovation, knowledge and relationships are the keywords that the participants must keep in mind when putting together their creative proposals.

Everybody can create the new Expo 2015 logo at Shicon.

The Expo has launched a national competition on its website, open only to italian students and post graduates from various Art and Design Schools.

The Shicon team is completely in love with the idea behind the competition that has decided to sponsor an independent competition open to everyone, from every part of the world, every age and every job or skills! Simply note that the competition this time will be private, it means that we are not going to publish the designs admitted to the competition on our website because someone could copy you and submit your idea directly on the Expo contest. We are going to share all the admitted designs when the Expo website will be closed for entries.

Shicon is promoting the contest for two important reasons: we strongly believe in give opportunities to young design talents, as this coincides with our mission. On the other hand, as we are based in Milan, we would like to do our best to join the city's effort in producing design for a sensible cause. Would you help us with this calling? Please note that our initiative is separate from what has been promoted by Expo (to which we do encourage you to participate directly).

PRIZES

Special Shicon Prizes: we are going to award 5 Shicon Medals prizes with €200 each. They will also take part of our new “Best Of” page, to share them within the community and with international Brands.
