Start to play with the GLAMOUR new PAD logo!
Glamour is one of the top magazines within the Condé Nast portfolio. For years it has been the best-selling women's monthly fashion magazine in Italy and the UK. Local editions are published in numerous other countries including the United States, Sweden, France, Germany, Spain, Russia. Glamour readers are dynamic, intelligent, curious, informed women.
After a comprehensive market research GLAMOUR has decided to launch a new complete, smart, innovative and compact size magazine: GLAMOUR PAD.
Glamour over the last decade pioneered the “pocket/handbag size” format with the tagline "fits in your life as well as your handbag", positioning itself as the first high quality prêt-a-porter magazine in Italy and on an international basis.
Condé Nast is now considering to complement the pocket/handbag size with a new format, a bit bigger, without sacrificing any of the distinctive assets of Glamour: convenience, portability, ease of handling of an editorial product which is extremely rich despite its compact size.
Goal: attract even more mature readers, who can less identify with the handbag size - considered more suitable for a “young” target – and, based on this prejudice, who prefer to purchase other standard women's monthly magazines.
The name of this new innovative format is: GLAMOUR PAD.
Design the PAD logo to best position this new magazine format with its target!
This is the challenge Glamour PAD is launching to all of you, creative talents and passionate readers: create / design the new PAD logo for the magazine, so that every woman can feel it as an uninhibited and smart friend, with impeccable taste, style-conscious, always with an eye on the latest trends.
A life manual to go along with women and the pace of everyday life, to keep her updated about style and fashion at any time and for any occasions – like in a dressing room when they can pull the magazine out of the handbag!
No woman could leave home anymore without her GLAMOUR PAD!
How would you design the PAD logo in order to wear your favourite fashion magazine?
Create and surprise Glamour describing graphically what PAD is:
PAD is ...
- An innovative size for a magazine, different from the Glamour pocket/handbag format and a little bit bigger than an iPad.;
- “PAD” has the ambition to become the new standard size that can keep all the best attributes of the large and pocket magazines: 1) high quality images for a strong visual impact 2) ease of reading, 3) portability, 4) compactness;
- The PAD” word communicates innovation and modernity;
- The “PAD” logo has to be clearly readable, which means it is visibly detached from the rest, but it always blends harmoniously within the cover-art of the Glamour magazine.
- “GLAMOUR PAD” must attract the attention of a more mature target if compared to the Glamour handbag size format.
PAD is not ...
- It is not synonymous with technology;
- It has nothing to do with digital content or with a magazine published on iPad.
- It does not want to recall a faster or younger or alternative world in respect to the typical Glamour environment;
- It does not refer to a different product: the content of Glamour’s pocket/handbag size format and Glamour "PAD" is going to be the same.

The winning logo will be taken in consideration by Glamour for real execution and distribution on the magazine on a global basis.Your idea could become the new PAD logo for the international GLAMOUR magazine!
Important notes:
It is a private competition?
YES, the designs which join the Glamour contest will NOT be displayed or shown publicly. Logged users will be able to see their own submissios.
Glamour is calling for a high degree of confidentiality in the initial phase of the competition, while it is searching for its new logo on an international basis. Please DO NOT share the creative ideas you submitted on Shicon all over, keep them secret.. After the end of the contest, the finalists selected by Glamour will be publicly presented and shown in order to allow readers to actively have their say, voting their preferred choice.
How many graphic proposals can I submit?
There are no limits to the number of submissions allowed for each designer, but remember to follow the brief.
You are also free to submit your ideas in different colours.
Can I submit only the PAD logo without placing it over the cover of the GLAMOUR magazine?
NO, absolutely NO. You are free to use the cover magazine in the download kit or any other cover you have got & you are also free to change the colours of the logo (not only white/pink) but as we wrote above REMEMBER: the “PAD” logo has to be clearly readable, which means it is visibly detached from the rest, but it always blends harmoniously within the cover-art of the Glamour magazine. It means that it's really importante you place it on the cover.
Can I modify also the GLAMOUR logo?
NO, please DO NOT MODIFY the Glamour official logo: the contest is only about to create the PAD new logo
Do I have to use the font in the download kit? Feel free to use or not to use them: we decided to share the Glamour's font with you just in case you need.

And there it is, the long awaited moment has finally arrived.
Condè Nast had to choose among over 189 logo proposals, came from 16 countries all over the world. It has been hard and it has taken a long time to return the ultimate verdict. This was an high quality contest, and all the submitted proposals have been carefully examined.
But finally, we can proudly announce the WINNER of the Glamour PAD logo design contest.
And the award for the best logo proposal goes to…
