Contest Brief

WINNER ANNOUNCED!

And here we are!
As promised, now that the first 2 commercials are officially on air from today, we can announce the winner of “Copywriter, where art thou?” copywriting contest.

But first, let’s make some revelations.
The anonymous Company hidden behind the contest was API – Anonima Italiana Petroli, leading Italian company in the oil and energy industry. API was looking for a format – from 2 to 4 scripts – to be turned into radio commercials in order to promote a special promotion of their brand IP, available from November 28th 2011 to January 31st 2012.
The promotion – “Double Points IP Nectar, Christmas 2011" – allows the owners of a Nectar Card to earn double Nectar points each time they get some petrol from a IP pump house.
Main communication goals were:

  • communicating that IP helps customers to achieve their prizes faster;
  • introducing the Double Points Promotion, as a tool through which speed up the collection of Nectar points;
  • increasing the awareness of IP as a partner of Nectar.

At the end of the contest, API received 41 complete formats, for a total amount of 102 scripts. From those 102, 3 scripts were chosen and turned into 3 radio commercials.
First 2 commercial are currently on air – from November 28th to December 17th. The third will be broadcasted on January 2012, approximately from 9th to 21st.

Paolov won the first prize of €1,500 and he can now listen to his commercial on all mayor Italian radios.

Among the 5 scripts presented, API chose “La Visita” and “La Suocera” for the first flight, “Dal Parrucchiere” for the second flight.

As promised, Paolov’s scripts have been produced and turned into real radio commercial.
Here the final outcome of all the 3 commercials – “La Visita”, “La Suocera” and “Dal Parrucchiere” – that have been broadcasted from the 28th of November 2011 ‘til 21st of January 2012 on all the following Italian radio: RTL 102.5, Radio Deejay, RISMI, Radio 105, RDS, CNR, Italia 5, Kiss Kiss, Radio 24, Radio Subasio, R101, Radio 1, Radio 2.

This contest is open only to Italian copywriters, because the Brand is looking for 2 commercial scripts to be broadcasted on the Italian radios. Commercial scripts must be written in Italian and aimed at regional audience.

Copywriting contest

An Italian leading company, one of the most important in national market, is looking for 2 scripts for a commercial to be broadcasted on Italian radios during Christmas Holydays.

Yes, you got right. This time Shicon opens its doors to COPYRIGHTERS, hard rock storytellers able to play with words and sounds to make us dream.
We want to challenge your creativity with words! And not in a normal moment, but during Christmas Holydays!

Write 2 scripts, both 30 seconds lasting, for a radio commercial to promote Brand’s special initiative and to be broadcasted in Italy.

Your goal is to find something catchy, able to stand out from the crowded commercial programming scheduled during Christmas period. Something able to go straight to the point, to describe Brand’s special initiative in only 30 seconds!

Both scripts have to be meant as two parts of the same story. The two commercials, in fact, will be broadcasted in different but close times. So the second one should be meant as a recall, with clear references to the first one, but it should also be able to stand alone to fully explain the promotion.

The Brand asked for the highest confidentiality, that’s why we cannot call its name publically. Only registered members can access to all the info required and to official contest brief, available in the download kit.

What to submit?

Write 2 scripts, each lasting 30 seconds, to tell and promote Brand’s Christmas special Promotion, and submit them on Shicon.com.
For each script, you must report the length of each element (music, lines, jingles, disclaimers…).

Remember, the 2 scripts have to be written as 2 parts of the same story. Please, refer to the official brand’s brief in the download kit for all the details on topic and specifics.

Is this a private competition?
YES, all the proposals which join the contest will NOT be displayed or shown publicly. Logged users will be able to see their own submissions.
The Brand is calling for the highest degree of confidentiality, that’s why we cannot call its name publically. Only registered members can access to all the info required and to official contest brief, available in the download kit.
Please DO NOT share the creative ideas you submitted on Shicon all over, keep them secret. After the end of the contest, the winning scripts will be publicly presented, in order to allow visitors and members to actively have their say.

There is a limit to the number of proposals that I can submit?
No limits, you are free to upload all the proposals you want on Shicon.com. The important thing is that they have to be complete (2 scripts) and fulfill the brief.

How to submit:

  • From 1 to 5 large images with the content of the first script (please, specify it in the headline):
    The image must be a jpg with optimized text, must measure 650x500 pixels (width x height) and must be RGB (no CMYK). It would be better if the text is disposed horizontally.

How Brand is going to select the winner and what use will be made of the winning scripts?
During the days following the end of the competition Brand’s inner management team will make its review and decision. As soon as we will receive the news of Brand's official verdict, we will spread the announcement on all Shicon’s channels (website, newsletter,blog, Facebook page, Twitter, Flickr).
The 2 winning scripts will become exclusive property of the Brand and will be produced and turned into 2 radio commercials to be broadcasted in national radios from November 28th to January 31st.
